Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in cladding, air barrier, coatings, and restoration systems has introduced StoTherm ci XPS, a fully-tested, highly energy-efficient system which provides air and weather tightness and long-lasting thermal performance and durability. The new system incorporates StoGuard liquid-applied air and moisture barrier and Dow STYROFOAM Panel Core 20 Insulation.

This sustainable, high-performance wall system helps lower energy costs and reduces the carbon footprint of buildings. In addition, it offers unmatched aesthetic choices due to a wide range of decorative and protective finishes available in virtually unlimited colors.

According to Sto Product Manager, Brian Chang, the product meets both the ASHRAE design standard 90.1-2010, the new International Green Construction Code (IGCC) and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) energy code requirements for continuous insulation.

The insulation board from Dow has a closed cell structure which helps prevent liquid movement through the material and provides exceptional thermal performance with an R-value of 5.0 per 1-inch.

The use of Sto TurboStick—a unique polyurethane spray foam adhesive—and attached to the insulation board, prevents thermal bridging from mechanical fasteners.

The product meets NFPA 285 fire testing acceptance criteria for wall assemblies, and the light-weight system creates less solid waste in production and at end-of-life than heavier claddings. It offers great design versatility with an extensive variety of decorative and protective 100 percent acrylic wall finishes which include options like brick, granite, limestone, stucco and metal, as well as the unique, patented self-cleaning finish with Lotus-Effect technology.
