Atlas Roofing and Summit Building and Roofing teamed up to spread a bit of goodwill to help maintain the Children’s Mansion in Tupelo, Miss. A subsidiary of the United Pentecostal Church, the Children’s Mansion assists abused, abandoned, and neglected kids from across the country and currently houses about 40 kids and teens. The Christian-based home operates exclusively on donations and receives no assistance from local or national government. 

 

Most of the buildings that make up the Children’s Mansion were built in the 1970s. Many were in dire need of roofing repairs. Some roofs were even leaking. 

 

Atlas Roofing Corporation in Pontotoc donated the roofing materials to lay the 15,000 square feet of shingles needed to repair the compound's roofs—a project estimated to cost about $42,000 in materials and labor. Summit Building and Roofing, an Ohio based company, donated their time and labor to install the new Atlas shingles on five of the 27 buildings that make up the Children’s Mansion’s campus. 

 

“We’re honored to have a chance to work with such a worthy cause,” said Mike Walker, Atlas sales representative. Walker helped orchestrate the donation of the supplies.
