TROY, Mich. — Architectural Roofing & Waterproofing and Roofing Contractor have teamed up with Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) to offer a day-long series of educational courses focused on building-envelope design. The event will take place May 14 at the Waltham, Mass., headquarters of SGH, a national engineering firm that designs, investigates, and rehabilitates structures and building enclosures. ARW Live will now offer five courses on topics including commercial roofing, insulation and waterproofing.

Event sponsors include The Dow Chemical Company, Polyglass USA Inc., Sika Sarnafil and Georgia-Pacific Gypsum.

The five educational courses are designed to provide architects, roof consultants, roofing professionals, waterproofing professionals, building owners and facility managers with key insights on building design and advice on protecting their building assets. Many qualify for continuing education credits. The updated agenda for the event is as follows:

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. — “Modified Bitumen Roofing Systems: Simplified Approach to Commercial Low Slope Roofing” presented by Jerry Solov, GlobalShield Inc.

12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. — Lunch and networking

1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. — “Sustainable Building Design: The Myth of Breathability” presented by Dan Tempas, Dow

2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. — “Waterproofing for Plaza Decks and Vegetative Roofs” by Philip Moser, SGH

3:30 p.m.-4:15 p.m. — Tour of SGH facility
