Englert Recognized for its Renewable Energy Use

PERTH AMBOY, N.J. — The New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP) has awarded Englert Inc. with a certificate of environmental stewardship recognizing the company for its “voluntary and proactive measures taken to go beyond compliance in an effort to improve the environment and ensure a sustainable future.”

The certificate was issued following a May 20 DEP inspection at the company’s Perth Amboy manufacturing plant. The certificate cited Englert’s renewable energy use at the Perth Amboy facility. Englert’s voluntary energy reuse program includes the company’s new roof-integrated photovoltaic (PV) system, which is generating thousands of kilowatt hours of electricity powering the company’s rollforming and slitting operations as well as part of its corporate office complex. The 611 photovoltaic panels on 16,000 square feet of Englert standing seam is believed to be the largest and only solar rooftop system ever installed by a metal-roofing manufacturer on its own facilities. The system is expected to generate nearly 186,000 kilowatt hours annually.

Energy reuse at Englert also includes the company’s new multi-million-dollar paint line with state-of-the-art technology that captures most of the waste heat from its thermal oxidizer for reuse in the paint line ovens and to heat the cleaner and rinse tanks of the paint line. “The certificate of stewardship reflects the Department’s appreciation of your efforts,” Assistant DEP Commissioner John Giordano said to the company. “The Department is formally recognizing the voluntary and proactive measures you have taken in an effort to improve the environment,” he added.

“This award underscores Englert’s commitment to sustainability and the environment both in the way our company makes its products as well as in the products that it makes,” said Englert Quality Manager Gene Johnson.
