VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — CertainTeed Corporation announced that the company has selected Jonesburg, Mo., as the home for a new, state-of-the art asphalt roofing shingle manufacturing and distribution facility. The company is planning to invest $100 million in the new facility, which will bring approximately 100 new permanent, local jobs to the Jonesburg community over the next few years. It is anticipated that an estimated 400 ancillary local jobs in trucking, welding and maintenance services will support operations at the facility when completed.

CertainTeed was founded in nearby East St. Louis, Ill., in 1904 as the General Roofing Manufacturing Company. “Our roofing shingles have protected generations of homeowners throughout North America since our founding by George Brown more than a century ago,” said Tom Smith, president of CertainTeed Roofing. “We look forward to carrying on Mr. Brown’s legacy of quality, innovation and service through this facility, while helping to energize the local community through new production and construction employment opportunities.”

With construction slated to begin this summer, the project will include a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that will produce the CertainTeed’s Landmark™ roofing shingles. In addition, the construction of a 150,000-square-foot warehouse will serve as a Midwestern distribution site for all of the company’s roofing products. As part of the competitive site selection process, officials from the State of Missouri, Warren County, Montgomery County and the City of Jonesburg teamed up on an economic development package to support the project.

“The Jonesburg plant plays a strategic role in meeting the ongoing demand for CertainTeed roofing shingles in the Midwest and ensuring top notch service to key customers,” Smith added. “We are tremendously appreciative of the support we’ve received from Gov. Nixon, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, officials from Warren and Montgomery Counties and the city of Jonesburg in helping make this plant a reality.”
