Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing Hawaii Expands to West Oahu

March 14, 2012

HONOLULU, Hawaii — Commercial Roofing & Waterproofing Hawaii, Inc. (CRW) is expanding their operations and purchased a property in West Oahu. According to CRW president and CEO Guy Akasaki, the expansion has been a long term goal in the making. “This will allow our family of companies to grow exponentially during this time of an apparent rising economy which affects the areas of construction, finance, intellectual property, research & development, and more. With continued efforts to develop Kapolei and West Oahu into Honolulu’s second city, we also predicted that there would be opportunities for growth.”

“In addition to our Kakaako facility, the West Oahu location allows space to establish new corporate headquarters and an expanded baseyard which will service our Central and West Oahu projects, as well as overseas operations in Guam and the Philippines.” According to Akasaki, over half of CRW’s 80-plus staff has moved to the West Oahu base, while the remaining employees will continue to operate from their Kakaako facility.

“Our customers have become more environmentally conscious as they face the fact of rising energy costs which directly attributes to Hawaii’s inflation rate. As customers search for sustainability options to assist them, CRW continues to invest in education to ensure our roofing products and services remain at the forefront of the industry that can provide long-term answers to rising energy costs. CRW understands how to interface finance, energy tax credits, and subsidies, with contingent liabilities. We integrate our knowledge in these areas with the newest technologies so our customers can achieve and maintain lower operating costs. We were correct with our predictions and have definitely seen an increase in PV installations for both the commercial and residential markets. As we offer complete turnkey service for roofing, repair, maintenance and solar electric photovoltaic systems, our business has grown in the right direction and we are all very grateful for this.”

While often recommending solar PV energy systems for long-term energy savings, CRW installed a system that provides 77.7 kW at their new 25,000 square foot West Oahu headquarters, located at 94-260 Pupuole St. in Waipahu, Hawaii. “We practice what we preach and turned our own roof into an asset, engineering the system to produce enough energy to capture our entire electricity consumption and energize BETA work electric vehicles. Plus, we’ve taken full advantage of the federal and state tax credits and are confident the savings we get will pay forward with helping us to maintain and achieve continued company growth while reducing our carbon footprint.” Akasaki said that CRW also develops and owns Power Purchase Agreements on Oahu and the neighbor islands.
