The Environmental Construction Collaborative Inc. is a collection of partner firms and sales professionals dedicated to green building practices and delivering environmentally smart building products and systems.

It is the mission of the ECC to promote the sustainability of building structures for longevity, reducing life cycle costs and increasing energy efficiency. The ECC emphasizes an environmentally responsible approach without sacrificing performance.

ECC partners provide the expertise and practical knowledge to assist the building owner, architect, consultant and contractor in making informed decisions regarding the best solutions to meet their building objectives. The organization partners are skilled in green construction and experienced with quality product selection resulting in high performance, efficient buildings. The alliance fosters the use of renewable resources, reducing energy consumption in new and existing buildings, with long lasting results.

Ken Flickinger and John Massengill, founders of the ECC, determined they would form a group dedicated to the needs of those specifying the use of green products while providing guidance with smart choices in green product offerings to realize lasting performance.

“As the construction industry moves in a green direction, we felt there was a tremendous need to provide decision makers with assistance in selecting quality products with a good environmental profile,” Flickinger said. “To build a sustainable building, you must have materials that will perform; the fundamentals of building a good building must still be followed.”

Flickinger said the ECC is committed to supporting professionals who create structures by providing solutions to eliminate building envelope moisture problems, and assist clients with the design development phase of their project’s material selection to achieve energy conservation and building construction goals.

ECC specialists also investigate existing building conditions and identify problems. Technical support and research data is provided to evaluate product performance. Professionals develop long-term building envelope management programs and assist with upgrades that maximize ROI and impact energy tax incentives. Guidance is provided with LEED certification and obtaining tax credits for reduction of building operating costs.

The ECC has developed an on-line resource (www.gotoecc.org) as an asset to building professionals. The site represents an array of companies, comprehensive product offerings and the latest innovations that deliver sustainable solutions. It is a complete resource for building professionals and offers environmentally smart techniques to protect the entire building envelope.
