KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Reflective Roof Coatings Institute (RRCI) will hold its fourth annual meeting at Harrah's in Las Vegas on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, prior to the IRE/NRCA conference.

Roofing consultants, coatings manufacturers, building owners, facilities managers, architects, building code officials, roofing contractors, educators, and students are invited to attend the session,"Cool Roofing Standards and Regulation:  Seeing Our Reflectivity."  RRCI's mission is to promote the benefits of reflective roof coatings in extending the life of roof systems while reducing energy consumption and demand for the building envelope.

In addition to a short RRCI business meeting, President Bob Brenk of Aldo Products will present a “State of the Industry” address, and discuss the goals of the Institute for 2009 and beyond’ and a feature presentation will be made by Ms. Liz Robinson, Executive Director of the Energy Coordinating Agency of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Ms. Robinson, along with Bill Kirn of National Coatings, has pioneered cool roof research in the Philadelphia area. Their work has demonstrated how cool roof coatings can not only reduce energy usage but also reduce the urban heat island effect.  She has been instrumental in getting changes in the Philadelphia Building Codes to include cool roofing, and has testified at state and local legislative hearings to promote cool roofs.  Her testimony has been instrumental in getting changes in Pennsylvania state legislation directing the state Public Utility Commission to include cool roofing as part of its demand side energy reduction initiatives.
