WAYNE, N.J.  - According to research conducted by  a renowned third party market research firm on behalf of GAF Materials Corporation, GAF-Elk Timberline Architectural Shingles were rated highest in quality among contractors, and were perceived to be the most improved in quality above ten competing brands.

Survey respondents included 150 contractors who had completed a minimum of 50 roof jobs in the past year. Asked to rate the quality of eleven shingle brands from one to five, with five representing “Excellent,” GAF-Elk Timberline Architectural Shingles were ranked number one for both overall quality and most improved shingle over a two year period. In fact, for overall quality, Timberline shingles got more top ratings than any other shingle.

“Obviously, we are thrilled to learn that contractors – one of the most essential constituency groups contributing to GAF’s success – find our shingles to be the highest in quality,” stated Paul Bromfield, Vice President of Marketing at GAF. “I am especially pleased that Timberline quality is viewed as most improved in the past two years, confirming the success of our recently-implemented Advanced Protection technology. We seek to make the highest-quality, longest-lasting shingles and will continue our focus on innovation.”

All of GAF-Elk’s asphalt shingle products are created using its proprietary Advanced Protection technology, reducing unnecessary filler while improving the performance of the shingles. Through this technology, these shingles all pass ASTM’s two toughest wind tests: ASTM D3161 Class F 110 mph and ASTM D7158 Class H 150 mph. Their slightly reduced weight also lessens the impact on natural resources used to create the shingles.
