Nichiha Celebrates 70 Years of Cladding Success
Nichiha marks 70 years of innovation, blending Japanese engineering with U.S. manufacturing

Nichiha USA is celebrating its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades since the company's founding in Japan in June 1956. From its beginnings as a regional building products manufacturer, Nichiha has evolved into a global leader in cladding solutions, employing more than 3,000 people across 13 locations worldwide and helping protect millions of structures from moisture, rot, warping, and pests.
"After 70 years, our products continue to prove their performance through the buildings they protect every day," said Maria Fernandez, Director of Marketing at Nichiha USA. "Millions of homeowners in Japan have trusted Nichiha for generations, while in the United States we've built a strong reputation on commercial projects requiring engineered performance at scale. Today, that combined expertise is reflected in our Architectural Wall Panel system."
Nichiha's success is rooted in experience gained across two distinct markets. In Japan, more than 90 percent of the company's products are used in residential construction, contributing to millions of homes built in one of the world's most demanding building environments. In the United States, where Nichiha has maintained manufacturing operations for nearly 30 years, the company has established itself in both residential and commercial construction, serving office, healthcare, education, multifamily, and mixed-use projects.
That combination of Japanese engineering and American manufacturing expertise now supports Nichiha's Architectural Wall Panel portfolio, which delivers performance, design flexibility, and installation efficiency across a wide range of building types. As demand grows for complete, tested wall systems, the company continues to leverage its global experience to meet evolving industry needs.
Celebrating Through Community Service
Nichiha launched its anniversary year celebration during its national sales meeting in Macon, Ga., this spring with a charitable team-building event. Employees competed to create "edible architecture" using canned and packaged food items to construct miniature residential and commercial buildings.
Following the competition, the structures were dismantled and donated to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. The effort generated two truckloads of food, helping support families in the community that has been home to Nichiha's U.S. manufacturing operations for nearly three decades.
