IIBEC’s CBECxP Certification Program Receives ANAB Accreditation

This prestigious accreditation confirms that the CBECxP program meets rigorous requirements for fairness, impartiality, and competency-based assessment

The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) announced that its Certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider (CBECxP) certification program has been accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) under the international standard ISO/IEC 17024.

This prestigious accreditation confirms that the CBECxP program meets rigorous requirements for fairness, impartiality, and competency-based assessment. ANAB accreditation provides assurance to stakeholders that the CBECxP program operates in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

“Receiving ANAB accreditation for the CBECxP program caps a multiyear effort to strengthen IIBEC’s certification offering and demonstrate alignment with the highest standards,” said IIBEC President Chris Dawkins, PE. “This achievement reinforces the value of the CBECxP credential for professionals and stakeholders in the building enclosure industry.”

IIBEC Executive Vice President and CEO Brian Pallasch, CAE, lauded today’s ANAB announcement. “Since launching our first CBECxP class in May 2023, the program has seen remarkable growth—demonstrating just how vital building enclosure commissioning has become. Achieving ANAB accreditation affirms that the CBECxP program meets internationally recognized standards of fairness, impartiality, and competency-based assessment.”

Michael Clark, F-IIBEC, RBEC, RRO, PE, CSRP, chair of the IIBEC Certification Council (ICC), applauded this culmination of the council’s efforts to achieve CBECxP program accreditation. “The ICC worked diligently to ensure the program met ANAB’s rigorous requirements under ISO/IEC 17024, and we are delighted to see those efforts reflected in today’s accreditation decision.”

Distinct from a certificate of completion or short course, the CBECxP program is a professional certification earned through verified education, documented field experience, continuing professional development, and successful completion of a rigorous, competency-based examination. This independent process ensures that certification decisions are based on standardized, objective assessments consistent with recognized professional standards.

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) is a leading accrediting body that evaluates certification programs against internationally accepted standards. ANAB accreditation demonstrates that a certification program has been independently assessed for compliance with standards of quality and impartiality.

Disclaimer: ANAB accreditation applies only to the CBECxP program and does not extend to IIBEC’s other programs or services.
