Kingspan Insulation North America introduces its most advanced insulation product yet: Kooltherm® K100, the next generation of the highest-performing foam plastic insulation on the market. Engineered for exceptional thermal efficiency, advanced fire resistance and increased design flexibility, the Kooltherm K100 Series sets a new benchmark for high-performance building envelope solutions in commercial and residential applications.

Kooltherm K100 delivers the industry’s highest R-value among commonly available insulation products, with an impressive R-value of 8.1 to 8.3 per inch, while also being the industry’s thinnest solution. Its advanced thermal efficiency, combined with a zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP) value, compared to other comparable foam plastic options, makes it ideal for environmentally conscious construction.

Certified by UL and Intertek, and available with FM Approved options, Kooltherm K100 is well suited for urban infill, retrofit and high-performance building envelopes. Designed to meet stringent fire safety requirements, Kooltherm K100 achieves a Class A rating for flame spread and smoke development in accordance with ASTM E84. It also passes multiple NFPA 285 assemblies, including brick cavity walls and architectural panels, and complies with NFPA 286 for exposed insulation in interior ceilings and walls.

In addition to maximizing space, Kooltherm K100’s compact profile helps reduce material use, thus lowering construction costs. Its lightweight design also facilitates easier handling and faster installation compared to thicker insulation options. These features support compact assemblies, reduced structural loading and faster project timelines.

“Kooltherm K100 is designed to deliver more with less—more insulation value, more fire resistance, more internal space and more design flexibility with less material,” said Ming Xie, vice president of product and technical at Kingspan Insulation North America. “Its high R-value per inch allows for thinner wall assemblies without compromising thermal performance, enabling project teams to maximize interior space, reduce material use and stay on budget and on schedule. That efficiency also translates into long-term value, with lower upfront construction costs and ongoing energy savings, making K100 a smart solution for both commercial and residential buildings.”

The K100 Series includes three specialized products tailored to specific applications:

  • K120 is designed for interior applications and concrete sandwich panels. It features a fiber-free phenolic core with a durable glass tissue-based facing, bonded to the core during manufacturing for enhanced durability.
  • K110 is a versatile board engineered for exterior use. It combines a low emissivity composite foil on the exterior surface with a glass tissue-based facer on the interior for superior performance.
  • K110 CB is specifically cut K110 insulation to 16 inches for cavity wall applications, fitting seamlessly between brick ties.

Kooltherm K100 is now available across North America through Kingspan Insulation’s distribution partners. For more details on specifications, performance data and installation guidelines, visit www.kingspaninsulation.us.
