Fluid Applied Vapor Permeable Air Barrier

Air-Bloc All Weather STPE

STPE Fluid Applied Vapor Permeable
June 21, 2019

Henry Company, a leader in Building Envelope Systems, has introduced Henry Air-Bloc All Weather STPE Fluid Applied Vapor Permeable Air Barrier, a UV- and fire-resistant, fluid applied, elastomeric membrane designed to provide a vapor permeable, water resistive air barrier when applied to high-performance above-grade wall assemblies. It can be applied at temperatures as low as 10 ºF (-12 °C) and has the ability to withstand rain within 30 minutes of being applied, helping to keep projects on schedule.

This single-component, moisture cure Silyl Terminated Polyether (STPE) forms a durable monolithic rubber-like membrane that resists air leakage, water penetration, and long-term weathering. It can be spray-, roll-, or brush-applied in a fast, easy one-coat application, and the vapor permeable membrane allows walls to breathe and dry.

“Specifying Henry Air-Bloc All Weather STPE has many pluses that give extraordinary project flexibility to both the designer and the installer,” said Christian Nolte, senior vice president, Marketing & Product Management, Henry® Company. “It offers flexibility for designs that call for permanent UV exposure under open-joint cladding. And, for the installer, this product is easy-to-spray with excellent adhesion, even in temperatures as low as 10 °F or on damp surfaces in high-humidity environments.  A major advantage: this air barrier is truly rain-ready. It can be applied just before precipitation arrives, cures quickly, and won’t wash off after the rain begins, so there’s less impact on the installation schedule.”

In addition to its UV-resistant, rain-ready and adhesive properties, Henry Air-Bloc All Weather STPE integrates with Henry flashing and accessories to form a complete wall system meeting the highest industry performance standards.

Henry Air-Bloc All Weather STPE is part of the Henry Air-Bloc portfolio of fluid applied air barriers. Henry also provides a portfolio of Blueskin self-adhered water resistive air barrier options, manufactured to a precise thickness to help ensure uniform performance and create a continuous membrane upon installation.  Henry offers its Air-Bloc fluid applied and Blueskin self-adhered air barrier lines in a range of vapor impermeable and vapor permeable options to accommodate every climate and substrate, delivering greater flexibility across a wide range of projects.
