BSD announced the appointment of Christopher Anderson as its new president and CEO, effective as of August 29, 2016. Mr. Anderson will be located at BSD's headquarters in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.

Prior to his acceptance of the position at BSD, Mr. Anderson served as Vice President, Data Strategy & Consulting with The Gordian Group, which recently acquired RS Means, the premier U.S. source of building cost data. In his role at Gordian, Mr. Anderson specialized in data strategy and analytics, covering all aspects of the building construction lifecycle from conception through facility management. Prior to the Gordian Group position, Chris was General Manager at RS Means, where he was responsible for all aspects of the business, including development and execution of customer growth strategy for the company's construction pricing data and consulting services to building owners and facility managers.

Chris Anderson is replacing Robert Paul Dean, FAIA, FCSI, who will remain as BSD's chairman of the board and will engage in part-time consulting for the company. Dean served as BSD's president from 2008-2016 and took over the CEO role from John Witherspoon, who founded the company in 1983 and retired in 2012.

BSD today fields two major software products for the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry and provides marketing and data services to building product manufacturers (BPMs). Its main product is BSD SpecLink-E, an automated construction specifications production application. Its newest product is BSD LinkMan-E, which connects SpecLink-E to Autodesk's Revit software, providing electronic coordination between the applications and permitting automated specifications production using object data from Revit.

The SpecLink-E application is a technologically advanced relational database tool that provides continuous, on-line updating of the master guide text and over 240,000 "intelligent links" in its extensive database. These links automatically include related text, exclude incompatible options, and highlight alternatives as the user selects products to be included in a construction project. First released in 1997, the product is now in its fourth generation and includes a cloud-based option.
