Jorge Mastropietro Architects Atelier Expands Ranks

June 3, 2016

Reflecting its growth into one of the New York area’s best-regarded integrated design and development firms, Jorge Mastropietro Architects Atelier (JMA) has announced several new hires and recent promotions that enhance its capabilities in architecture, interiors, real estate development, and project and construction management.

With a raft of new building projects underway from New York to Buenos Aires, these talented project managers and designers will help JMA track the growth trajectory it has established with acclaimed designs and successful development models. “Our new hires will help ensure that as the scope of our work expands, our talent, experience, and attention to detail will continue to expand as well,” says JMA principal and founder Jorge Mastropietro, AIA.

The new hires announcedby JMA today include Christopher Moon, who has been hired as a project director, and Oscar Schettino, who joins the firm as a senior architect. Additionally, another key member of JMA’s project team, Elliot Nelson, has taken on an expanded role as project manager.

About the Professionals

Christopher Moon

Project Director

With nearly 20 years’ experience as a project architect, site supervisor, and project manager, Moon’s diverse portfolio includes high-end brownstones, a 25,000 square-foot ballroom, and renovations at the Port Authority. He brings talent and resourcefulness along with significant levels of project responsibility to his work with Jorge Mastropietro Architects Atelier (JMA). As a project director, Moon’s exceptional problem-solving skills make him a valuable ally for the firm’s clientele as well as a trusted go-between for the various contractors involved with the firm’s projects.

Before joining JMA, Moon was a project manager with Ahuja Partnership Architects, a highly respected firm based in New York, Kentucky (formerly known as Ahuja Priya Architects). In addition, he worked as a project manager and project architect for Martin J. Brockstedt Architecture, P.C. Moon also worked as an architectural designer or project manager for several leading companies, including Richard Cook & Associates, and Baxt, Ingui, & Associates, Architects, P.C.

Oscar Schettino

Senior Architect

Already heavily involved in the design development of various projects in New York, New Jersey, and internationally, Oscar Schettino brings to JMA 25 years of extensive experience as a designer and project manager for both commercial and residential projects at differing scales.

Before joining Jorge Mastropietro Architects Atelier, Schettino served as a designer, design coordinator, and project manager with various architecture firms. Previously he worked as a senior designer and project manager with Gregory Comito & Associates Architecture and Engineering in Newark, New Jersey, and as senior designer at Inglese Architecture and Engineering.

A native of Argentina, Schettino also served on the faculty of the University of Buenos Aires, where he studied, and ran his own practice in Buenos Aires before moving to the United States.

Elliot Nelson

Project Manager

JMA’s newest project manager, Elliot Nelson joined the firm in 2014 and has since overseen the development and construction of various mid- and low-rise multifamily, commercial, and interior design projects at varying scales. With a dynamic and innovative approach to all elements of the design/build process, Nelson’s role continues to expand, encompassing design development and management work as well as overseeing vendor and client communications for a number of projects. A frequent traveler on behalf of JMA, Nelson has also become one of the firm’s leaders for scouting and sourcing products and materials.
