SPRI Hosts Successful 44th Annual Conference & Business Meeting

The Single-Ply Roofing Industry (SPRI) hosted its 44th Annual Conference & Business Meeting February 13–15, 2026, at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona. The three-day event brought together members and industry partners for technical collaboration, business intelligence, professional development, community engagement, and networking.
The conference opened Friday with the Annual Meeting, followed by Technical Task Force sessions and the Technical Committee meeting, where members advanced key initiatives and standards-focused discussions central to SPRI’s mission.
Awards Presentation Recognizes Industry Leadership
Friday evening featured the Annual Awards Presentation, honoring individuals for exceptional service and leadership within SPRI and the roofing industry.
Scott Carpenter received the President’s Service Award in recognition of his dedicated leadership and steady guidance during his term. Over the past two years, Carpenter helped lead the organization through significant transitions and operational changes with professionalism and thoughtful direction.
Member Appreciation Awards were presented to Stephen Childs and Jim Kirby. Childs was recognized for his long-standing leadership of the Technical Committee and was acknowledged for his recent promotion to the SPRI Executive Board as Treasurer. Kirby was honored for his preparation, candor, and commitment to maintaining high standards in SPRI’s technical and strategic initiatives.
The evening concluded with a 1920’s Mafia Murder Mystery Dinner, where attendees embraced the theme and participated in an interactive social event that fostered camaraderie and connection.
Educational Sessions Deliver Industry Insight
Saturday’s program featured two prominent industry speakers. Maura Thomas, a leading expert on attention management and productivity, delivered practical strategies for managing focus in distraction-heavy work environments. Her presentation emphasized attention management as a key driver of performance and organizational effectiveness.
Alex Hernandez, Owner and President of Clark Roofing Co. and Chairman of the Board for the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), provided an industry and labor market update. His session addressed construction sector trends, workforce dynamics, and economic pressures shaping roofing and construction businesses nationwide.
On Sunday, attendees heard from Duane Musser, Vice President of Government Relations for NRCA, who presented a Washington policy update covering tax treatment of roofing, workforce legislation, immigration, tariffs, and regulatory priorities. Ken Simonson, Chief Economist for the Associated General Contractors of America, shared a construction outlook highlighting sector growth differences, economic pressures, and forecast indicators influencing planning decisions across the industry.
Community Engagement and Networking
Saturday afternoon included optional activities that encouraged service and collaboration. During the Community Give Back event, sponsored by Tyelus Consulting, LLC, nearly 50 volunteers assembled approximately 700 snack packs for students in the Marana Unified School District. SPRI contributed approximately $7,500 in food donations to help address local student food insecurity.
An Amazing Race team challenge, sponsored by Amrize Adhesives and Sealants, followed the service event, providing attendees with an opportunity to build relationships through friendly competition.
The conference concluded Sunday with a Golf Tournament set against the Arizona landscape. Refreshments were sponsored by OMG Inc., and prizes were provided by SFS.
Continuing Momentum
The 2026 SPRI Annual Conference demonstrated the strength of collaboration across the single-ply roofing industry. Attendees departed with actionable insights, strengthened partnerships, and renewed momentum for the year ahead.SPRI extends its appreciation to all speakers, volunteers, sponsors, and members who contributed to the success of the event.
The organization looks forward to continuing its work at the upcoming April Quarterly Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, April 28–30, 2026.
