JCJ Architecture, a forward-thinking and nationally ranked planning, architecture, and interior design firm, announced the promotion of Matthew Horn, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, as Managing Director of JCJ’s Western Region. In this role, Horn will oversee operations across JCJ’s regional offices in Tulsa, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and San Diego. His appointment follows the transition of Barry Goldstein, AIA, who leaves the position to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer of the firm.

As Managing Director West, Horn will guide project processes, direct resource allocation, and manage project performance throughout the region. Working in close collaboration with JCJ’s Eastern Region Managing Director, Mary Faria, AIA, and the firm’s broader leadership team, he will help optimize operational effectiveness and successful project delivery.

“I’m honored to step into the role of Managing Director and deeply grateful to Barry, whose steady leadership has helped position our firm for long-term growth and stability,” said Horn. “It will be my priority to build on that good work and to continue to foster an environment of design excellence, collaboration, and innovation. Supporting our teams with the tools, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive will be key as we seek to expand our portfolio with projects that reflect our clients’ aspirations and JCJ’s commitment to excellence.”

Horn holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oklahoma and is a licensed architect in Oklahoma with more than 18 years of experience. He joined JCJ’s Tulsa office in 2021 as a Project Architect and has since served in various leadership capacities, including Project Manager and Studio Leader. In these roles, he has led both internal and external teams, developed client relationships, and championed a culture of collaboration grounded in open communication and mutual respect.

In his new role, Horn will focus on strengthening JCJ’s leadership in hospitality design while expanding the firm’s presence in community-focused markets. Key opportunities include destination projects with JCJ’s tribal partners that honor cultural heritage while supporting economic development, as well as new work in sectors such as education, cultural institutions, public safety, and adaptive reuse.

Barry Goldstein, AIA, who previously held the role of Managing Director West, expressed his confidence in Horn’s leadership: “Matthew is a collaborative leader who understands the importance of balancing design ambition with operational excellence,” said Goldstein. “He brings a thoughtful and people-focused approach to leadership, and I look forward to seeing him guide the continued growth of our Western Region.”

“The West region holds incredible potential for JCJ,” said Horn. “We’re seeing growing demand for projects that are rooted in cultural authenticity, sustainability, and community impact. In collaboration with our project partners, I believe we are well-positioned to deliver compelling work that leverages context and creates a meaningful, enduring impact on the communities we serve.”
