January 6, 2025

Michigan is currently undertaking a process to update its commercial and residential energy codes. The current commercial energy code proposal from the Michigan Bureau of Construction Codes (BCC) is to adopt provisions of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC 2021) along with ASHRAE 90.1 (2019). This six hour program will present significant changes to the current Michigan Energy Code which will occur once the new code is adopted. The program will address requirements for building envelope, lighting, HVAC, submittals, verification and commissioning, as well as administrative requirements.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. To develop an understanding of the technical provisions of the proposed Michigan Commercial Energy Code.
  2. To develop an understanding of the verification and commissioning requirements in the code.
  3. To develop an understanding of the code submittal and documentation requirements.
  4. To develop an understanding of how provisions of IECC 2021 and ASHRAE 90.1 (2019) along with Michigan adoption language and amendments interact to form the Michigan.
  5. Energy Code for Commercial Buildings.
