Concrete has been in use for thousands of years. Technologies are available today to help cement producers reduce carbon and producers face difficult hurdles, financial and systemic, for technology innovation. With this said, concrete is an extremely viable construction solution when looking at the life cycle of the material and incorporating sound design strategies for its use.

Building Enclosure was recently joined by Blake Johnson, Commercial Director for Knife River's Prestress Division, and Melissa Verwest, Regional Sustainability Engineer for Knife River Northwest. Blake and Melissa are here to discuss reducing the embedded and operational carbon in precast.

Listen in as they discuss what’s new in precast, what strategies there are when it comes to reducing embedded and operational carbon in precast, and how we can design and engineer products with less cement and embedded carbon.
