Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in full system facades, prefabrication, air barriers, coatings, and restoration solutions, received the top “2020 Hero of the Year Award” in addition to being honored with two 2020 EIFS Hero Awards, three EIFS Awards of Merit, and one honorable mention during the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) virtual EIFS Hero Awards ceremony held on May 19, 2021.  EIMA conducts the prestigious EIFS Hero Awards annually to honor a wide variety of projects that exemplify the unique attributes of exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS). The award-winning projects represent the best in the continuous insulation (CI) industry and are all examples of both exceptional architecture and performance.

Sto’s Long Beach Memorial’s Pediatric M.O.B. project in Brea, California was awarded top billing as the 2020 Hero of the Year Award. For Long Beach Memorial, Neville Group used a combination of StoPanel® NExT ci and StoPanel® Metal ci prefabricated wall panels to create a unique exterior facade, including ribbon and portal windows.

Greenhouse Dispensary, in Skokie, Illinois also received a Hero Award. On the Greenhouse Project, under the direction of architecture firm Camburas Theodore, G&J Services used StoTherm® ci EIFS with Stolit® Milano finish. The project features EPS insulation board formed into organic shapes using 3-D modeling and precision cutting to create a unique free-flowing facade that truly embodies Sto’s “Creativity Begins, Sto Finishes®” platform.

Sto also received Awards of Merit for Peace Raleigh Apartments in Raleigh, North Carolina, Houston House in New York City, New York, and Imperial in Queens, New York. For the mid-rise tower Peace Raleigh Apartments, Premier Stucco used StoTherm® ci EIFS with Stolit® Lotusan® finish to achieve the sophisticated look of the facade, which included multiple aesthetics. At Houston House, Imperiex Construction realized architect Jeff Cole’s vision of a facade with the look of metal panels, through the skilled application of a StoTherm ci EIFS with Stolit® Milano finish. Imperial was a renovation project that used StoTherm ci for a complete exterior re-clad of a 7-story apartment building in Queens, New York. Architect Chris Benedict teamed up with Elite Wall systems to deliver a fresh new look while providing a solution to recurring maintenance issues with the original masonry cladding.

Finally, in the “high-rise” category, Sto received an honorable mention for Gentry Buckhead Village, which was adeptly handled by Johnson and Sons.

“Sto Corp’s outstanding showing in the 2020 EIMA EIFS Hero Awards is testament to our commitment to innovation, partnership, and our industry-leading EIFS solutions,” said Tim Salerno, Director of StoPanel, Sto Corp., “Nobody does it better.”
