High Density Polyiso Cover Board

ProtectoR HD High Density Polyiso Cover Board

ProtectoR
February 15, 2019

Johns Manville (JM), a global building and specialty products manufacturer and a Berkshire Hathaway company, announced a wide range of new high-performance commercial roofing products at the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Nashville, February 11-13.

Taking center stage at the JM booth was the company’s ProtectoR HD High Density Polyiso Cover Board. It provides excellent protection and can save time and expense for contractors. With a closed cell polyiso foam core and inorganic coated glass facers, this high-density cover board has a Grade 1 compressive strength and an R-value of 2.5. The product offers excellent resistance to moisture, hail, wind uplift and puncture, plus its light weight makes it easy to handle.

The product has the lowest fastening rates in the market for a HD polyiso cover board—up to 50 percent fewer fasteners are needed to achieve FM I-90. As an example, it takes only eight fasteners per 4’ X 8’ board with adhered reinforced membrane (TPO, PVC, EPDM-R, Mod Bit¬) applications over a minimum 22 ga steel or structural concrete deck to achieve FM 1-90 performance.

“ProtectoR HD is an important addition to our polyiso cover board offering,” noted Tesha Kroll, Director of Product Management, Roofing Systems at JM. “It expands our line with a half-inch, high-density product and gives us the most comprehensive offering in the industry.”

Other JM cover boards featured at IRE include SeparatoR CGF and SeparatoR FR.

New EPDM Products Mean Easier Installs
Johns Manville also featured two new EPDM products at IRE— EPDM Tape Primer Plus and EPDM One-Sided Pre-Taped sheets.

EPDM Tape Primer Plus features greatly improved coverage rates when compared to competitive products—500 square feet per gallon vs. 250 square feet per gallon for the competition. With a consistent smooth texture, the product is easier to mix and has superior tack-back performance. EPDM Tape Primer Plus also has an improved application temperature range above 25 degrees F.

EPDM FIT One-Sided Pre-Taped is an exciting addition to the JM FIT (factory inseam tape) line, and is offered with 4” or 6” FIT, as well as 20’ and 30’ one-sided pre-taped sheets.

TPO Lineup Now Includes TPO 12-Foot and TPO SA
Long renowned for its best-in-class TPO products, Johns Manville recently added 12-foot-wide TPO roofing sheets in all thicknesses—45, 60 and 80 mils. The wider roll makes many roofing jobs easier, with fewer lifts to the roof and labor savings from welding fewer laps. The company also produces a 6-foot-wide sheet.

TPO SA was also featured at IRE. This versatile flashing membrane is perfect for curbs, corners and parapet walls. It installs at a wide temperature range beginning at 20 degrees F. and rising on an approved substrate with primer, or direct to smooth approved substrate at 40 degree F. and rising.

“We’re pleased to share our newest roofing products at IRE and to sponsor The Roofing Institute, which provides contractor-focused educational opportunities,” said Joe Smith, President of Roofing Systems at Johns Manville. “Our goal is to offer customers an outstanding experience—with JM products, service and our Peak Advantage Guarantee.”
