Benoy, the international, award-winning firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is delighted to announce its role in creating a new space for Maggie’s Centres.

The firm recently completed the pro bono design for the new Head Office for the organization which provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.

The area where Maggie’s has spent the last five years in West London, next to the Thames, has become a very busy area in real estate terms and securing their place for the 40 employees based there became a challenge. The cancer support group had no room to grow.

The building that Maggie’s found was an old, redundant church which had been empty for several years. When the lease was signed, the owner was in the process of taking the building to shell and core completion. With a huge amount of ‘can do’ from all parties, Maggie’s overlapped their fit-out with the landlord’s work.

Benoy Associate Director Martina McMahon worked ahead of constant deadlines to finish this project for the Maggie’s Team and create a new home for them.

“Collaborating with Maggie’s has been an honor. This project allows Benoy to support a group providing a much needed and much appreciated resource to those struggling with the pain and stress of cancer,” said Martina.

As Maggie’s celebrates in their new office, Operations Director Ben Cartledge commented, “how enormously grateful we are for the help and support that we received from Benoy.”

Chris Watson, Maggie’s property director, added, “Our magnificent new office is loved by our staff. There are light and airy, incredibly friendly spaces and we have room and flexibility as our work expands.”

At the heart of every Maggie’s Centre is a kitchen table: It’s a place to sit and read, a place or talk to other people, a place to find support from professional experts. Anyone can walk into Maggie’s at any time, make a cup of tea and sit down at the kitchen table to think, talk, laugh, cry or simply take a quiet moment. Everyone is always welcome at Maggie’s kitchen table. It’s a place for all.
