Unicel Combines Vision Control with Pilkington Pyrostop Glass from TGP
Unicel Architectural and Technical Glass Products announced the
availability of Unicel's patented Vision Control louvers-in-glass combined with
Pilkington Pyrostop glazing from TGP - the first such product assembly to
achieve Underwriters Laboratories fire protection classification.
Unicel Architectural and Technical Glass Products (TGP) announced the availability of Unicel's patented Vision Control louvers-in-glass combined with Pilkington Pyrostop glazing from TGP - the first such product assembly to achieve Underwriters Laboratories (UL) fire protection classification. Vision Control insulating glass units now incorporate glazing with fire-ratings of 45, 60 and 90 minutes.
“The UL Classified Vision Control and Pilkington Pyrostop solution meets a strong demand for fire-rated privacy systems, particularly in healthcare environments,” said Jean-Francois Couturier, CEO of Unicel. “Architects have often struggled with the issue of specifying hygienic privacy control solutions that meet stringent hospital fire-rating requirements. By combining hermetically sealed, adjustable louvers with fire-resistant glazing, we provide a second-to-none solution to address both safety and privacy concerns. No other system provides this level of vision control flexibility with UL Classified fire-resistant glazing.”
The combined Vision Control and Pilkington Pyrostop glazing assembly has been UL fire-rated for doors, windows, transoms and sidelights.

Vision Control is a patented, hermetically sealed glass unit combining louvers within glass that can be customized to virtually any shape for interior or exterior glazing applications. Pilkington Pyrostop is a fire-rated and impact safety-rated glazing material that blocks radiant heat, helping protect people and valuables on the non-fire side of the glass where heat transfer might be a concern. TGP is the sole North American supplier of Pilkington Pyrostop.
