ARMA Highlights Asphalt During National Roofing Week

breaking news1
April 19, 2017

While food, water, and shelter are all basic human needs, we tend to take for granted that there is a roof over our head protecting us.  We just don’t think about it; until it starts to leak, that is.

Designed to raise awareness for roofing systems and the significant role they play in our everyday life, ARMA is proud to celebrate National Roofing Week and join the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and other allied organizations in the weeklong campaign.

National Roofing Week, being held June 4-10, also seeks to emphasize the importance of proper roofing installation and maintenance; the importance of hiring professionals to perform those jobs; and the importance of worker safety.

“Asphalt provides a level of beauty, performance and simplicity that no other roofing material can equal,” said Reed Hitchcock, executive vice president of ARMA. “National Roofing Week is a great chance for manufacturers, contractors and especially homeowners to pause and recognize the impact of asphalt roofing, whether it’s because of impressive curb appeal or peace-of-mind performance.  It also provides ARMA an opportunity to showcase and educate on the benefits of installing an asphalt roofing system, whether it’s for a home or a commercial property.”

Asphalt shingles provide an unparalleled aesthetic range of shapes and colors and offer an unmatched level of performance due to their resiliency and cost-effectiveness. They are also easy to install and maintain. Asphalt shingles are recyclable and at the end of their life cycle can be retooled to be used in other roofing projects as well as in other fields such as paving.

During National Roofing Week, property owners and the roofing community will be encouraged to celebrate and participate in an enhanced social media outreach campaign using the hashtag #NationalRoofingWeek. Each day will consist of a different theme and the hashtag will be used to promote topics like employee appreciation and training, charitable projects, and a celebration of signature roofing projects.

ARMA will be featuring recipients of its Quality Asphalt Roofing Case-Study (QARC) Awards Program throughout the week, showcasing the very best asphalt roofing projects from across North America. ARMA encourages member companies, roofers and homeowners alike to also share photos of their asphalt roofs and post about what makes them beautiful, affordable and reliable. Homeowners and roofing professionals can share pictures of themselves in front of their asphalt roofs or photos with their roofing contractors on ARMA’s LinkedIn page or by using the campaign hashtag on Twitter.

“Roofing systems aren’t often top-of-mind for most until a problem arises,” said Reid Ribble, CEO for NRCA. “We want to change that.  National Roofing Week is an opportunity for industry professionals as well as homeowners across the country to celebrate roofing and to learn more about how important roofing systems really are.”
