Moody Nolan DC Relocates to New Office Space

1.jpg
August 4, 2023

Moody Nolan DC recently moved into a new office space at 1120 G Street NW, located a few blocks from the White House and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The new location strengthens the firm’s connection with the community and the clients it serves. Following 15 years of successful growth, the relocation marks a new milestone for the office while recommitting the firm to its original mission of growing its presence in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV).

Recently appointed DC Director of Operations, Kathryn T. Prigmore, FAIA, NOMAC, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, CDT, will champion Moody Nolan’s presence in the DMV with an emphasis on bolstering its presence in its current practice sectors while expanding into the government and commercial markets. She notes, “Our office relocation reflects Moody Nolan’s dedication to the DC Metropolitan area. Being a successful architecture firm is not about what you can extract from the community, it’s about what you can give back. As we enter into a new era of our presence in the DMV, we are further establishing ourselves as a corporate citizen in the marketplace.”

Since its inception, Moody Nolan DC has catapulted as a leader in the K-12, sports and recreation, higher education, and multi-family housing markets. The firm’s completed projects in DC include the renovation and expansion of the DC Department of General Services Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, which houses the Williams Arena, named after Venus and Serena Williams, and the Benjamin Banneker Academic High School, the first high school in the District of Columbia to receive Net Zero Energy certification. More recently, the studio designed the Edgewood Recreation Center as well as Thurgood Marshall Hall at Morgan State University. Moody Nolan DC’s current design projects include the Howard University Center for Fine Arts and Communications, a new state-of-the-art academic facility which includes the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, as well as Morgan State University’s $150 million science center and a Hen Quarter restaurant near Audi Field.

Moody Nolan is uniquely positioned to build upon its recent recognition as AIA Firm of the Year, which the firm received in 2021. Having grown from 200 to 360 firmwide employees in just two years, the goal is to continue expanding the 15 employee DC studio. With this move, the team looks forward to supporting the growth of tomorrow’s leaders and remaining adaptable to the evolution of the design and construction industry, bringing a new sense of locality to the practice.

Located at Metro Center, Moody Nolan DC now has an office it can grow into that reflects the company’s culture and values. Committed to fostering excellent client service and providing seamless design and project delivery, the new office is designed to facilitate the flexibility needed to support a hybrid work environment and enhance communication and collaboration between team members. Its central location also provides ease of connecting with existing and potential clients. Ultimately, the move reinforces Moody Nolan’s highest priority: to ensure that every project makes a positive impact within the community through high-performance design.
