ClarkDietrich Receives First-Place Award from CFSEI
ClarkDietrich Engineering Services has been recognized for its design expertise with a first-place award in the Design Excellence category (Residential Division) from the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI). Since 2013, the annual CFSEI awards have acknowledged outstanding achievements in creative design, technical innovation and best practices in the use of cold-formed steel.
ClarkDietrch received the prestigious award for its role in the design and construction of the new AIT Barracks in Monterey, Calif. The facility was commissioned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to serve as a modernized, private-sector residence for 320 Defense Language Students. The $52 million, 110,000-square-foot structure included a four-story, load-bearing, cold-formed steel structure that required a number of outside the box solutions to keep the project on time and on budget. From high seismic loading, antiterrorism requirements and a mix of cold-formed steel, masonry and structural steel, the project encompassed several design challenges.
