When Split Rock Studios, a company specializing in creating cultural and natural history exhibits, was called upon to help redesign the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, it employed the help of Acoustical Surfaces, Inc., a pioneer in the business of controlling sound. To balance the acoustics of the Hall, Acoustical Surfaces utilized its Perforated Acoustimetal backed with its Echo Eliminator Recycled Cotton Acoustic Panels. The custom printed acoustical panels were screen-printed with artwork tailored to fit the theme of the Hall, serving as décor as well as functional acoustical treatment.
The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is not a museum, but a space that commemorates the sacrifices of America’s servicemen and service women who were killed or wounded by enemy action. Before the redesign, the Hall was heavily Army in context, but now it fully represents all branches of military service. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that supports the mission of the Hall through fundraising efforts and awareness campaigns.
