The two co-founders of DXA studio, Wayne Norbeck and Jordan Rogove, have been named Visiting Professors of Practice at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech.) DXA studio is a New York based architecture and design firm known for a diverse range of award-winning projects. The announcement of the appointment was made by Virginia Tech noting that both architects have been involved in teaching and mentoring at the School of Architecture + Design over the past several years.
For the past 7 years Wayne Norbeck and Jordan Rogove have led the DXA studio practice focusing on authenticity, sustainability and innovation in all of their projects. They bring their years of experience as practicing architects in the urban context, to the students and future architects at Virginia Tech.
“Our relationship with Virginia Tech has been formative since our time as students. With our New York based studio, we serve as a conduit to students looking to get their foot in the door here in the city. Prepping students for their post-graduate careers is a critical part of their architectural education,” said Wayne Norbeck, a partner at DXA studio.
Most recently both Wayne and Jordan served as advisors to the School of Architecture students in the award winning FutureHAUS, a groundbreaking prefabricated smart home that placed first in the 2018 Solar Decathlon Middle East in Dubai. The house was recently installed in the heart of Times Square for the May 2019 NYCxDesign event weeks with the support of DXA staff and resources.
“We see our academic roles as being integral to our professional practice enabling an open exchange of ideas, conversation and learning on a daily basis. We are very thankful to Virginia Tech for awarding us this opportunity to be involved in the faculty program,” said Jordan Rogove, a partner at DXA studio.
Jordan Rogove and Wayne Norbeck are graduates of Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture and Urban Studies.
